Charles E. Gamble, M.D.

For more than 50 years Dr. Charles Gamble has been one of Waco’s most well-loved and respected pediatricians. Dr. Gamble began his medical career in 1952 after receiving his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine – Houston.

After finishing a two-year internship as a physician in the United States Army Medical Corps he returned to complete his residency with the Baylor affiliated hospitals in Houston. His legacy in Waco began in 1957 when he opened the doors to his pediatric practice where he practiced until the 1990’s before joining the Hillcrest Pediatric Pavilion.

A pillar of the Waco medical community, Dr. Gamble served as Chief of Staff for Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center (1973) as well as the President of the McLennan County Medical Society (1981). In 2007 he was awarded the prestigious honor of the Gold Headed Cane-- voted on by the Waco medical community--recognizing his lifetime contribution to medicine and society.

His spirit of service to patients and to the greater Central Texas community has consistently marked his professional career. In addition to caring for thousands of children and families, Dr. Gamble also donated his expertise as the pediatrician for Waco’s Methodist Home for 40 years in addition to conducting well-baby clinics for the McLennan County Health Department.

His community involvement includes serving as the President of the Waco Symphony Association, the 1996 Cotton Palace King, and as an Elder at First Presbyterian Church.

Dr. Gamble loves visiting with and taking care of kids. After 50 years working as a pediatrician, he now takes care of the children and even the grandchildren of his first patients. Outside of his medical practice Dr. Gamble is a well-rounded gentleman. He is an avid supporter of the Waco Symphony and enjoys the fine arts. In his free time he enjoys gardening. Dr. Gamble has been happily married more than 50 years to his wife, Geneva. Together they have three children and three grandchildren.
